Nicole Tows

I’m Nicole — an Alberta oil painter inspired by Canada’s wild lands, hunting traditions, and the animals that define them. Nicole Tows is a painter and photographer currently living and working in Alberta, where the vast wilderness, abundant wildlife, and outdoor traditions deeply influence their work.

With a Fine Arts degree and a strong foundation in photography, Nicole brings a trained visual sensibility to both their canvas and lens. Photography often serves as a starting point for their paintings—capturing fleeting moments in the wild that are later transformed into expressive portraits of animals and scenes inspired by hunting and fishing culture.

Their work combines realism with painterly texture, celebrating not only the beauty of wildlife but also the cultural traditions and emotional depth of outdoor life. Whether behind the camera or in front of the easel, Nicole aims to honor the wild, the way of life it inspires, and the people who live it.
